Annual profections are a Hellenistic time-lord technique. They activate one house per year of life on a fixed twelve-year cycle, counted from the rising sign. The domicile ruler of the activated sign is the time lord for that year. PathFinder Charts uses this count — whole-sign, from the rising sign, traditional ruler first.
This page runs that count from two facts you already have: the age you turned at your last birthday, and your rising sign. It does not cast a chart. It does not compute a rising sign from birth data.

Age is completed calendar years, birthday to birthday — not a day-count divided by 365.2422. The first year of life is age 0 and activates the 1st house. Each birthday advances one house.
The house is (age modulo 12) + 1. The profected sign is the Nth whole sign from the rising sign: (risingSignIndex + house − 1) modulo 12, with Aries as index 0. The chart's house system never enters this path. Under Placidus, a quadrant cusp can sit in a different sign than the rising-sign count; this calculator does not follow that cusp.
The time lord is the traditional domicile ruler of the profected sign:
For Scorpio, Aquarius, and Pisces, a modern co-ruler is named as commentary — Pluto, Uranus, and Neptune respectively. It does not replace the time lord.
Because the cycle returns to the same house every twelve years, ages 12, 24, 36, 48, 60, 72, and 84 always activate the rising sign. The house themes below are the lines PathFinder Charts shows on the profection overview:

A 12th turns attention inward, toward solitude, spirituality, and hidden matters.
The Lord of the Year is the planet ruling the activated sign, and it carries the year more than any single transit. PathFinder Charts states it in one line: the planet is activated as the annual time lord, and transits to that natal planet are the key triggers this year.
Profections filter the transits of the year. Transits to the time lord, transits made by the time lord to natal planets, and transits passing through the profected sign carry more weight than other transits in that twelve-month window. The natal condition of the time lord — dignity, house, aspects, sect — is a chart reading, not a two-input count. This page does not assess that condition.
Annual profections are not one of the Pathfinder Method's Seven Data Sets. The Method is a separate timing stack — progressions, solar arcs, outer-planet transits, and return charts. Profections sit alongside it as a Hellenistic yearly frame.
